Introduction

Welcome to ecology for beginners. This blog will cover the foundations of environmental science which includes: ecology, conservation and environmental factors; however lets start with the basics what is ecology?

An Ecosystem is defined as a community of various organisms interacting with each other and their habitat in a particular environment.

In simple terms ecology is the study of the environment, specifically to look at the relationships between organisms and the habitats around them via flora, fauna, biotic and abiotic factors.

To fully understand the relationships we look at single habitats or biomes which are split into two main areas flora and fauna:
Fauna: animals
Flora:  trees and habitat around.

By studying the ecosystem of a geographic area where plants, animals and other organisms including weather and landscapes work together we can understand how this bubble of life is co-dependent.

Habitats are broken down into individual biomes or habitat bubbles.

The term biomes or biospheres refer to the specific environment which we review within a set climate and landscape.

The species of flora and fauna present in those specific areas or more simply the species that thrive in that area can tell scientist a lot about how productive a ecosystem is and how this area is being impacted by different biotic and abiotic factors like climate, weather and the fertility of the soil area around.

Biomes can be effected by both living and none living factors reflecting a food chain established as a means of survival. The animals included in food chains and web are different in each and are dependent on the energy surrounding them to support their every need.
