Mangrove



Found all over the tropical and subtropical areas of the world they are characterised by abiotic conditions resulting in a humid climate, saline environment and water logged soil. Mangrove plants grow in water logged soils and can tolerate saline/ salt solution 

in the water ranging from 2% to 90%. This biome contains the only species of trees in the world that can tolerate salt water; this species of tree is called a halophytes. 

Mangrove swamps are rich habitats full of animals like the snowy egret, white ibis, brown pelican, manatees, monkeys, crocodiles, lizards and other aquatic species consisting of turtles ,snails, barnacles, molluscs, sponges, isopods, shrimps, crabs and jellyfish.
